Dark Peaceful Silence

Dark, forbidding stone, still through the ages,  standing sentinel over a lurid tomb, not a word murmured, here the earth ceased to moan, and so have we stood, looming darkly over our age long charge,  our shadowed souls hovering over sculptured stone, lest even a mouse touch a sacred bone.
Let quiet peace rein might,
For it would  take more than the dark of midnight
to banish our sweetly silence.
